Research Assistant Positions in Cellular & Molecular Immunology

Role Description

Marie Curie Initial Training Networks (ITN) are providing funding for 16 Research Assistant positions throughout Europe. As part of this, the Centre for Immunology and Infection at the University of York are looking to recruit three Research Assistants to investigate stromal cell – immune cell interactions.  The early stage researchers will investigate the function of stromal cells in immune responses using in vivo imaging, systems biology and functional assays to determine the role of stromal cells in infection and in vaccine efficacy.
Applicants for the positions should hold a BSc (Hon or equivalent) degree in Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, or a related subject and it is expected that the individual will undertake a PhD as an integral part of the post.
Applicants must not have been resident (for work or education purposes) in the United Kingdom for more than 12 months in the previous 3 years and must have completed their first degree after 1 March 2008.
The positions are available from 1 March 2012 for three years.
The salary will be in the range £33,766 –£36,337 a year.
